The Department of Medical Genetics, NIMS, Hyderabad in association with the CDFD, Hyderabad organized an Awareness Program and CME on Management of Rare Genetic Disorders in the NIMS Auditorium. The event was organized with the support of the Society for Indian Academy of Medical Genetics (IAMG) and the DBT Mission Program on Pediatric Rare Genetic Disorders (PRaGeD). The event was attended by around 150 medical professionals from different specialties and subspecialties including Pediatrics, General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Neurology, Clinical Immunology, and Nephrology, from various institutes and medical centres in and around Hyderabad. The main aim of this event was to create awareness about the availability of existing and emerging therapeutic modalities for rare genetic disorders, to deliberate on strategies to make these therapies accessible to patients from all strata of society, and to sensitize health care professionals regarding the need for early diagnosis and intervention, as well as screening and preventive strategies.
